TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE - JASMIN REIF

Jasmin Reif M.A. Lic.Ac. HP MBAcC MRCHM

My name is Jasmin Reif, and I am a licensed Traditional Chinese Medicine acupuncturist, herbalist, naturopath, and a member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) as well as the Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine (RCHM).

The origin and foundation of my work today lies in a lifelong fascination with exploring bodily dysfunctions through performance art and visual arts. As a graduate of the Düsseldorf Art Academy, my performance art was characterized by the investigation of functional disorders of the human body.

First Degree - Fine Art

I created art as a method to understand, reconstruct, and process a state of limitation and dysfunctionality. The purpose was to acquire the body’s available resources and subsequently develop mechanisms of adaptation, compensation, and modulation. The creative approach allowed me to transform pain into action, discomfort into expression, and stagnation into movement.

Second Degree - Fine Art

Over time, my fascination with embodying the creative and symbolic aspects of illness evolved into a desire to explore the underlying causes of pathology and „treat“ them in the real world. This led me to begin a three-year study of Traditional Chinese Medicine with a focus on acupuncture at the City College of Acupuncture (CCA) in London in 2019, building on the knowledge from my art studies. There, I learned to understand and treat the body through the Chinese Meridian System. Since 2021, I have also been a licensed Heilpraktiker (naturopath).

From the start, I was fascinated by the idea of transforming dysfunction into function and actively influencing the suffering of patients in a positive way. I specialized in nervous system disorders and wrote my dissertation on „The Neuromodulatory Effect of Scalp Acupuncture in the Treatment of Disorders of the Nervous System.“

Third Degree - Fine Art

In addition to my work in clinical practice, I aim to become actively involved in research in the future. That’s why I began studying medicine in 2022, which will enable me to conduct clinical trials on acupuncture and neuromodulation, contributing to the treatment of complex diseases on a global level.

Teaching and Publications

To further my education, I worked as a Student Research Assistant at the college in London. During my studies, I began publishing articles on TCM pathologies and their treatment with acupuncture.

I teach in various advanced training courses, most recently for AGIMed and SAPV in Germany, where I train doctors and nurses in Chinese Medicine.

Chinese Herbal Medicine

Furthermore, I continuously pursue further education, currently focusing specifically on Chinese herbal medicine at the Northern College of Acupuncture (NCA). in York, England.

Integrative Oncology - Klinikum Essen Mitte

In addition to my work at the practices in Düsseldorf and Essen, I work as a TCM therapist in the integrative oncology department of the Breast Center at Evangelische Kliniken Essen-Mitte (KEM). There, I support cancer patients both postoperatively and as an adjunct to chemotherapy. I am also involved in the oncology day clinic.
